July 11, 2018
Collin College's 340,000-square-foot technical campus is set to open in Allen, Texas, in 2020.

Collin College, a community college serving the area north of Dallas, has awarded a $142 million contract to McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. for construction of a technical campus facility in Allen, Texas.

The 340,000-square-foot Collin College Technical Campus will offer workforce and academic programs in several areas including health science, information technology, logistics and transportation, architecture/construction, engineering technology/industrial automation and general education courses.

The Allen Independent School District is partnering with the college to take advantage of the campus with expanded dual credit opportunities.

The Allen Economic Development Corporation says Collin County, Texas, is expected to add more than 780,000 residents and 300,000 jobs by 2040. It says the Technical Campus will be one element in more than 800 acres of mixed-use developments and corporate campuses along the Texas State Highway 121—the 121 Corridor—in Allen.

Construction is expected to begin later his year, and the facility is scheduled to be completed by June 2020.

Funding for the projects comes from a $600 million bond issue that voters approved in 2017.
