California community college opens new facility

Jan. 16, 2018
Cuesta College has a new instructional building on its San Luis Obispo campus.

Cuesta College is beginning its new semester this week with the opening of a new instructional center on its San Luis Obispo, Calif., campus.

The college says the San Luis Obispo Campus Instructional Building is a 32,000-square-foot, two-story structure with eight multi-discipline classrooms capable of serving up to 50 students each. The facility also contains one forum-sized classroom with a full capacity of 80 students.

The second floor of the structure will consist of more than 40 offices, a large staff lounge area and three meeting rooms.

The building is one of the projects paid for with funds from Measure L, a $275 million bond proposal approved by voters in November 2014.

Later in the semester, Cuesta College is expected to open the North County Campus Center in Paso Robles. The 43,000 square foot, two-story structure will house a variety of student services, such as counseling, admissions and records, and financial aid, plus the cafeteria, bookstore, and health center.
