Students at Iowa State University in Ames have begun moving into Geoffroy Hall, the newest residence hall on campus.

Iowa State Daily reports that the eight-story building provides living space for 784 students. Construction of the $49.5 million began in May 2015 and was ready in December 2016 for students to move in.

The building has 14 houses on the upper seven floors. The traditional-style student rooms are double-occupancy, have solid-surface flooring and include a set of furniture for each resident.

Each house has two bathrooms, a den, and common space throughout the hallways. The two houses on each floor are connected by a 'front porch" right off the main elevators.

The main floor has more than 15 study rooms, the hall desk, a lounge, an activity room and a kitchenette. The lowest level has a laundry room.
