A new 19,300-square-foot performing arts center with seating for 500 is scheduled to be completed in time for the 100th anniversary celebration of Community School, Ladue, Mo., this April.

The $2.9 million project will involve demolition of the existing arts wing at Community School and construction of a new two-story addition. The project was funded through donations from several school families.

The Centennial Arts Center performing arts addition will feature an auditorium and classrooms to support the school’s integrated arts education program, including visual art, music, drama and other artistic expressions. This new addition will create an area that will be used by every child, every day, for everything from classes to graduation ceremonies. Flexible space will support and host other programs, such as extended day, summer camps and physical education, and events, such as the book show, grandparents day and assemblies.

Forum Studio (St. Louis) is architect for the project. S. M. Wilson (St. Louis) is providing general contracting services.
