Milwaukee charter plans to build new home for its high school

July 18, 2022
The Dr. Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy is seeking to construct a high school building and convert its existing campus to a middle school.

Dr. Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy, a charter high school in Milwaukee, is planning to construct a new building.

The charter school will then convert its existing building into a middle school in 2023, reports The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

The location of the new school building is now a parking lot and storage building. It would be donated to the school by Royal Capital, which is also the developer for the project.

The new building is slated to be about 70,000 square feet and would accommodate about 500 students. The existing building is a single-story facility that serves about 330 students.

The school's existing building is in the process of being donated to the school by Goodwill, after years of leasing. The middle school would need approval from the state Department of Public Instruction and city Charter School Review Committee.

The school hopes to break ground this month and hopes to be completed by August 2023.
