April 28, 2022
Vance, Saint James, and Holly Hill Elementary schools will be closed, and a new Holly Hill Elementary will be built.

The Orangeburg County (S.C.) district wants to build an elementary school in Holly Hill that would replace three existing campuses.

Vance and Saint James, elementary schools would close, and a 900-student Holly Hill Elementary would be built to house students from all three schools, reports WLTX-TV.

Orangeburg Superintendent Shawn Foster said the new Holly Hill would cost between $40 million and $45 million. It would be built on the site of the existing football and baseball fields.

The district also plans to build a middle school wing on Lake Marion High School's campus.

The school board plans to put a $190 million bond request on the November ballot to pay for the facility upgrades.
