Two new magnet schools in Houston will emphasize STEM curriculum

A high school and a middle school are set to begin classes later this year.

The Houston School Board has voted to open two new magnet schools that will emphasize science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The Energy Institute High School and the Baylor College of Medicine Academy at Ryan will begin enrolling students for 2013-2014. The Energy Institute High School will begin with ninth-grade students and add one grade level in succeeding years to eventually serve students in grades 9-12. The Baylor College of Medicine Academy at Ryan will open with sixth-graders and eventually serve students in grades 6-8.
