Florida's community colleges may soon be able to award bachelor's degrees. The Legislature appears poised to let the state's 28 community colleges offer four-year degrees in disciplines where there is a shortage of workers. Legislators say the idea is to increase access to higher education, not to compete with the state's 10 public universities.
