Legislator wants New Orleans school board removed

Fed up with what he considers the Orleans Parish School Board's interference with the daily affairs of the school system, a Louisiana state senator has proposed dissolving the elected board. The bill calls for a constitutional amendment creating an appointed School Board of seven members selected by the New Orleans mayor.
