The Portland Public Schools board has cut more than $10 million in facilities costs from the 2001-02 budget in the face of a $20.5 million shortfall. The district will close the revenue gap by making more cuts in facilities and maintenance, by leasing nonschool buildings and by increasing some rental fees to community groups that use district-owned facilities.
