The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York says an unnamed benefactor has offered a donation of $150 million that might save six financially failing parish elementary schools. Still, the gift may not keep the schools from closing. The archdiocese would like the schools to become financially self-sufficient by increasing enrollment and tuition rather than fund-raising.
