Ohio awaits court ruling on school funding plan
Ohio's $1.4 billion plan school funding system is now in the hands of a divided Ohio Supreme Court that has twice declared it unconstitutional. As attorneys made final oral arguments, the deep political and philosophical rift on the high court, which has handed the state two 4-3 defeats, was plain to see. (Cincinnati Enquirer).
If remarks from the bench are any indication, the Ohio Supreme Court appears poised to hand state officials their third 4-3 defeat in the decade-old school-funding lawsuit. Only Justice Andrew Douglas, considered by many the most likely to change his position, appeared at times to be on the fence. (Columbus Dispatch).
