Report says San Francisco schools misspent $30 million in construction funds

The preliminary findings of an investigation portray the San Francisco Unified District as incompetent at best and law-breaking at worst.

An investigation of the San Francisco Unified School District found that since 1994 it has used $30 million of $90 million in voter-approved bond money meant for school construction to pay for expenses such as salaries and overhead. The school district also has quietly halted new construction projects because of a lack of funds.
