Architects chosen in Chicago school design competition

Firms from Santa Monica, Calif., and New York City have been chosen to build two Chicago elementary schools that will emphasize universal design and a small-school atmosphere.

winners of an international design contest for two Chicago elementary schools

are a pair of strikingly modern plans that school officials want to build on the city's Northwest and South Sides. The winners are Koning, Eizenberg Architecture of Santa Monica, Calif., and Marble, Fairbanks Architects of New York City.
