Panel says North Carolina should cut class sizes, bolster teacher recruitment

To continue improving its schools, North Carolina must lengthen its school year, aggressively recruit teachers and cut class size by more than a third in some cases, according to a report by an education policy group. The Public School Forum of North Carolina said in its report that the state should focus first on aid to low-performing schools with high percentages of economically disadvantaged students.
