Osceola County, Fla., district forgoes impact fees from developer in return for land
An agreement to give impact-fee credits to a local developer could mean a $2 million gain for the Osceola County school district. School officials and Miami-based Brighton Homes have spent the past 1½ years working out a deal to trade impact-fee credits for land within Brighton’s upscale housing development. Brighton wants to be credited for $3 million in fees during five years. In exchange, it would give the School Board 64 acres of land near Pleasant Hill Road, as well as a charter school the developer is building.
