Texas district plans to establish its own police force

The Hurst-Euless-Bedford school district will create its own police department after the cities of Hurst, Euless and Bedford showed no interest in contributing money to its school resource officer program. The superintendent will recommend that the school board create a district-run police department with up to 11 officers and a police chief, to be in place by the next school year.
