Federal audit leads to halt of construction at Alaska university

Construction of a new residence hall for Native students at Alaska Pacific University is stalled in the wake of a scathing federal audit. The audit calls the hall unnecessary, overpriced and ineligible for the kind of funding it received. The report says the Department of Housing and Urban Development authorized $9.5 million on a project that should not cost more than $2.3 million.
