The state of Arizona will appeal a court ruling requiring it to increase funding for Arizona's K-12 system.

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Katherine Cooper ruled that the state owed its school system $1.6 billion, but she has yet to officially sign the judgment because she allowed the two sides to file additional arguments on the wording of the document, the Arizona Republic reported.

Still, Gov. Jan Brewer has already indicated that an appeal is imminent.
