Although construction of the facility is not entirely finished, the Geneva (N.Y.) City School District has begun use of its all-new, all-weather, multisport Loman Stadium.

The Finger Lakes Times reports that the Geneva High varsity boys lacrosse team played the first-ever recorded game last week at the new facility, which is situated behind the middle/high school.

The stadium also will have an eight lane, all-weather track, bleachers and press box. Additional improvements include modernization of the high school gymnasium, new locker rooms, team rooms, a new fitness center, and an auxiliary gym. 

“There is a lot of pride when I look out over this field,” says Geneva Superintendent Trina Newton. “Just given where we were, this is pretty spectacular. Our kids deserve this. I’m thrilled for the community, and I’m just thrilled for the children and young adults. This is exciting for I believe everyone in Geneva.

Funding for the new stadium was included in a $29.16 million capital improvement proposal approved by voters in December 2015.

The field itself will play host to football, lacrosse, and soccer.

The stadium will be equipped with an enclosed and modernized press box, a computerized scoreboard, and a new lighting system.
