A Baptist school in Chattanooga, Tenn., is scheduled to break ground this week on a facility for its athletic and performing arts programs.
Silverdale Baptist Academy, a private preK-12 school, says the Silverdale Center will have dedicated spaces for the school's performing arts and athletic departments and will house classrooms for sixth-graders.
Plans call for the center to have a 650-seat theater, a 1,000-seat gymnasium, a black box theater, a dance studio, rehearsal space, instructional studios, a weight room, five academic classrooms, gathering spaces, and offices.
The groundbreaking is scheduled for Thursday.
"It is time to offer our Fine Art students a place to call home," the school's website says. "It is time to offer our athletes a tournament-size gym."
Silverdale Baptist Academy was founded in 1999, and now has an enrollment of about 1,100 students.
