Construction Zone: Shared space

Jan. 1, 2008
Lyndhurst Board of Education and Youth Center, Lyndhurst, N.J.

A 10,000-square-foot facility that accommodates the services of the Lyndhurst, N.J., Board of Education offices and the Lyndhurst Youth Center recently has been completed.

The building is part of an educational complex and is situated on 9.4 acres of land on the same campus as Lyndhurst High School. It was designed to complement the surrounding neighborhood with similar residential details such as brick, skyline height and window scale. Safe pedestrian walkways have been provided, as well as separate and distinct entrances for each of the building's uses.

The architect also performed work on the 120,000-square-foot, three-story Lyndhurst Middle School, which will accommodate 600 students.

The architect for this project is DMR Architects (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.).
