SALT LAKE CITY - Four of Salt Lake Community College's (SLCC) campuses and sites in the Salt Lake Valley are under construction.

SLCC, which serves 54,000 students annually in 12 Salt Lake and Tooele county locations, is expanding its services at four locations: Redwood Campus in Taylorsville; Jordan Campus in West Jordan and South Jordan; Larry H. Miller Entrepreneurship Center in Sandy; and its Applied Education Center in South Salt Lake.

After three years of planning, and using student fee-derived funding, the College Center at the Redwood Campus will expand about 36,000 feet to the west and add a shelled- in second floor above the addition. Also, the Administration Building, the oldest classroom building on campus, will begin renovation in January.

After two years of construction, the college's Jordan Campus is slated to open in January 2001. Nearing completion of its exterior construction at the 114-acre campus are a Central Distribution Center and a High-Tech Building. A third building, the 12,000-square-foot Student Activities Building, is being planned. A fourth building in partnership with the Jordan School District, is being discussed.

Construction is underway on two automotive buildings on the college's Larry H. Miller Entrepreneurship site. The two buildings will provide 96,000 square feet of training space, classrooms and an auditorium.

Construction on the new Applied Education Center is expected to be completed in time for the fall semester 2001.
