KANSAS CITY - Patrons of Center School District No. 58 narrowly approved a $39 million package of districtwide improvements and an increased operating levy this fall. The operating levy question required a simple majority to pass, while the question to issue general obligation bonds to fund the districtwide improvements required a 4/7 or 57 percent vote. The operating levy received a 51 percent approval, while the bond election received a 57.36 percent approval.
This bond election is the first increase requested by the district since 1983.
The improvement package includes major renovations and additions at the high school and middle school. Renovations to expand program space also will be made at all four elementary schools. All schools will be brought into compliance with ADA and life-safety regulations, and all schools will receive technology upgrades.
Architect for the entire scope of work is DLR Group.
