Construction Zone: Building in flexibility
The 10,000-square-foot, fourth-floor library of the Atwood Hall Chemistry Building at Emory University, Atlanta, will be gutted and replaced with two-thirds teaching lab space and one-third library space.
All modular hood connects are quick connects or flanges that can be disconnected easily. The hoods then can be moved to other pre-established locations.
The remodeled laboratory also has a modular wall system made of aluminum and glass or paintable panels, which attach to the structure with bolted connections. The panels can be unbolted and relocated.
The architect is Cooper Carry & Associates (Atlanta). R.J. Griffin & Company (Atlanta) is general contractor for the project.
