The 68,000-square-foot housing project at St. Mary's College of Maryland, St. Mary's City, is part of the college's plan to accommodate growth, and provide apartment and suite-style living units for more than 250 students.
Apartments include four single bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and a bathroom. Suites have three double bedrooms (six beds total), a living room, two baths and an efficiency kitchen in select units. The buildings include common areas with laundry rooms, a recreation room, offices, public bathrooms and a community kitchen.
The project was designed to complement the architecture of the college, which was established in 1840. The buildings incorporate brick exteriors, slate roofing, landscaping and brick walkways. Site improvements include parking for 100 vehicles, site lighting, utility infrastructure and stormwater management.
Konover Construction Corporation (Farmington, Conn.) is the design-builder, and Herbert S. Newman & Partners PC (New Haven, Conn.) is the architect.
