Dallas district may reopen shuttered school

Administrators are recommending approval of funds to renovate the H.S. Thompson Learning Center

The Dallas school district wants to reopen one of the 11 schools it has closed over the last two years. The Dallas Morning News says the H.S. Thompson Learning Center, which served elementary students, could reopen in the 2014-15 school year, but it’s not certain whether it would be a regular campus or a specialized school. District administrators are recommending that the board authorize renovations and other startup costs. H.S. Thompson eventually would serve students who are expected to live in a new housing development.
