L.A. charter wins high performance grant

Animo Venice Charter High School in Los Angeles has received a $107,000 grant, the first awarded by California's State Allocation Board under the High Performance Incentive program. As part of a statewide bond proposal in 2006, voters authorized $100 million in funding for green school building projects. Animo Venice's design includes innovative daylighting, drought-tolerant landscaping, a rooftop photovoltaic grid, an efficient mechanical system and a compact footprint. The architect is Osborn Architects.
