Colorado State University Pueblo in Pueblo, Colo., has completed construction of its 23-acre solar array on the north side of its campus.

The university has officially switched all academic buildings to solar power and has become the first campus in Colorado to reach net-zero efficiency, the university says in a news release.

Construction of the solar project began in February 2019. This solar project enables the campus to generate excess energy and put the energy back on the grid.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis has mandated a move toward energy efficiency across the state of Colorado by 2040; the university already had this project in the works. The university has exceeded three of the four goals in the governor's greening executive order--greenhouse gas emission reduction, energy management, and renewable energy.
