March 12, 2008
Butterfield Trail Elementary will be remodeled and expanded

Officials in the Fayetteville (Ark.) district hope that the renovation of Butterfield Trail Elementary School will result in the system's first certified green school building. Some of the features that will help the school earn points on its path to green certification include points for the number of bicycle racks and a shower system for employees who bicycle to work. The project will expand the school to about 72,000 square fee. The older portions of the building, which was built with an open-classroom concept, will be remodeled with enclosed classrooms. The architect is Crafton, Tull, Sparks and Associates.
