Carlstadt will soon open the doors to New Jersey's latest green schoolhouse

New Jersey governor mandated high-performance school construction in 2002.

The Carlstadt (N.J.) school district is getting ready to open a new K-8 facility that is designed to receive silver LEED certification. Carlstadt Public School is one of many high-performance schools that have been built in New Jersey since 2002, when Gov. James McGreevey issued an executive order mandating that the design of new school facilities incorporate the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED guidelines. The school is expected to open in the next few weeks.
