Sept. 15, 2008
Victory Square Center, a Umatilla Morrow Head Start pre-school facility in Hermiston, Ore., has become the first building in the state to receive a Green Globes rating for achievement in sustainable design and construction. The Green Building Initiative uses the Green Globes assessment, which was adapted from a system widely used in Canada, to evaluate the environmental friendliness of commercial design and construction. The 5,000-square-foot head start building received a rating of two Green Globes for, among other things, energy efficient design, the incorporation of daylighting, and the incorporation of water conservation techniques. The architect is Pinnacle Architecture. To read a Green Building Initiative news release, click here.
