Wake County, N.C., commissioners have voted to place a $548 million school bond proposal for Wake County Public Schools on the November ballot.
WTVD-TV reports that the bond funds would be used to build seven schools, renovate 11 others, acquire land and repair equipment.
Jessica Holmes, Commission Chair, says voters expect the commissioners to invest in the school system.
"It's also an investment when it comes to bringing businesses to Wake County," says Holmes. "They know that when they come here they don't have to put their children in private schools or charter schools. We have an exceptional public school system."
In addition to the school district bond proposal, the commissioners also agreed to place on the November ballot a $349 million bond proposal for Wake Tech Community College and a $120 million bond referendum to upgrade county recreation facilities.
