Christian Heritage Academy in Rocky Mount, Va., plans expansion

The academy says the additional space will accommodate growing enrollment.

A 40-year-old Christian school in Rocky Mount, Va., plans to expand to accommodate and encourage rapidly growing enrollment.

In the short term, Christian Heritage Academy has partnered with Franklin Heights Church to use classrooms on the church’s campus, reports The Franklin News-Post.

“They are allowing us to use their facilities for an expansion campus starting next school year,” said Melanie Cassady, director of academy relations for Christian Heritage Academy.  “That’s going to allow us to bring in even more students and families over the next several years.”

In the longer term, the school plans to construct a new building to accommodate the additional students. An unidentified benefactor has already bought land in Rocky Mount for the planned school, Cassady said.

An architectural rending of the proposed building and its campus shows parking lots with sheltered drop-off areas, an eight-lane track, soccer and baseball fields, and sites where additional construction could take place.
