San Mateo (California) district opens athletic facilities at 2 high schools

The district has built a new gymnasium at Burlingame High and a new athletic training complex at San Mateo High.

The San Mateo (California) district has completed construction of new athletic facilities at two of its high schools.

A new 37,942-square-foot gymnasium has opened at Burlingame High School in Burlingame. The facility has two gyms, locker rooms, offices, wrestling space and storage and support spaces.

The district also has opened a 20,085-square-foot athletic training complex at San Mateo High School in San Mateo. It has a gym, seating for 820 spectators, team and training rooms, a classroom and additional support spaces.

Both projects have incorporated green features such as rooftop solar arrays, cool roofs, energy-efficient mechanical systems, low-flow plumbing fixtures, drought-tolerant landscaping and automatic lighting controls.

The architect for both projects is Quattrocchi Kwok Architects; the contractor for the Burlingame project is BHM Construction, and the contractor for the San Mateo project is Lathrop Construction.
