The university says that since the board's initial approval in 2023, the school has added to the project’s scope, including design and structural upgrades for potential future expansion beyond the current expected seating capacity of about 35,000.
The updated plan also calls for build-out of academic space in the facility, vertical expansion of the Tampa General Hospital Center for Athletic Excellence, and enhanced locker room amenities.
Site preparation has been ongoing. The project team will now move forward with construction. The construction schedule calls for final inspections to be completed in spring 2027. The university expects to hosting the first events in the stadium in fall 2027. 0
The board also has approved $47.9 million in infrastructure upgrades needed as university continues to develop the east side of the Tampa campus.
