Athletic facilities will get overhauled at Trinity University in San Antonio
Trinity University in San Antonio is preparing to renovate its campus athletic center.
The $14.2 million overhaul of the Bell Athletic Center will begin later this year and is expected to be completed in 2016, the university says.
The school says the highlight of the renovation will be the addition of a multi-level fitness center, weight training facility, and cardio fitness area. About 10,000 square feet will be added to the northeast corner of the center to provide more than twice the size of the existing weight and cardio facilities.
The new fitness center will open to all Trinity students, faculty, and staff.
Other planned improvements:
- Conversion of five of the seven racquetball/squash courts into a 4,000-square-foot strength training room. The existing weight room is only 2,500 square feet.
- Expanded and upgraded locker rooms, athletic training facilities, and a new strength training room for Trinity student-athletes.
- Upgrades to mechanical and filtration systems in the natatorium.
- New bleachers, scoreboards, scoring tables, and locker rooms in the gymnasium.
The principal designer of the project is Marmon Mok Architecture.
