Kansas community college unveils new facility for its culinary program

The $13 million Hospitality & Culinary Academy will help train students at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park.

Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kan., has opened the $13 million Hospitality & Culinary Academy. The Kansas City Star reports that the academy building expands the program’s classroom space from 11,000 square feet to 36,000 square feet. The five new culinary labs cook with gas — the industry standard — instead of electricity, and each supports sophisticated audio-visual technology.
