The Garland (Texas) Independent School District has opened a health clinic for its employees.
The district says the clinic will serve all full-time staff members as well as their spouses and dependents older than 2 years old. The district has about 7,000 full- and part-time employees
“This will be a great advantage to GISD,” says Employee Clinic Manager Christi Rachal. “We have a very friendly, well-experienced staff. Since we are not open to the public, we are not going to be cattle herders. We are going to get to know you as an individual.”
The clinic offers $10 visits regardless of insurance. While not designed to replace primary care providers, physician assistants will treat minor illnesses—sore throat, earache, sinuses, etc. All minors need to be accompanied by an adult, and anyone 18 or older must present an ID during check-in.
