As space became tight and parking difficult, facility managers at Santa Rosa Junior College, Santa Rosa, Calif., decided to build a new parking structure on campus. Featuring five levels above ground and one level below ground, the cast-in-place, post-tensioned, 378,220-square-foot concrete structure has 1,081 parking spaces.

The parking structure was constructed with red weathered brick to keep it consistent with the character of the local area. A clock tower is at the northwest corner of the building.

The parking garage goes above and beyond the requirements for disabled accessibility. The design team installed larger, bordered pathways surrounding the garage to facilitate access for the blind. The entry and exitways on the first floor are very wide and open, and most of the parking on the first level is reserved for handicapped people.
