The Cypress-Fairbanks (Texas) Independent School District estimates it will cost $4 million to repair campuses that were damaged in storms that poured as much as 17 inches of rain in parts of the Houston area.

The Houston Chronicle reports that classes, which have been canceled all week in the 114,000-student district, are scheduled to resume on Monday, but repairs will be ongoing at several campuses.

District administrators say that as many as 53 Cy-Fair campuses suffered damage in the rains and subsequent flooding. Roy Sprague, associate superintendent of facilities for the district estimates repairs will cost close to $4 million.

The schools with the greatest damage include Cypress Falls High School, Cy-Fair High School, Adam Elementary School and Moore Elementary School.

Officials also have determined that the artificial turf at Pridgeon Stadium must be replaced after it sat under water for 24 hours. A replacement surface is expected to be ready for the first football game of the 2016 season.
