Victory College Prep, a K-12 charter school in Indianapolis, will try to acquire Paul Miller Elementary School if the district decides to close the campus.

Victory College Prep, a K-12 charter school in Indianapolis, wants to acquire an elementary school that the Indianapolis district has targeted for closing.

Inside Indiana Business reports that Paul Miller Elementary School 114 is only two city blocks from the Victory College Prep campus.

The charter school would use the additional space to accommodate its growing enrollment.

The elementary school would close if the district's Rebuilding Stronger facility reorganization plan passes. The proposal would result in multiple school closings.

Under Indiana state law, if a school building becomes vacant or unused, a school corporation must make it available for lease or purchase by a charter school for $1.

Six school buildings under the plan would become vacant at the end of this school year. School 114 is one of the two schools proposed for closure that would merge with other existing schools.

A seventh building, Sidener Academy for High Ability Students, could also become available in the 2026-27 school year when those students move to a new building.

The school board is scheduled to vote on the Rebuilding Stronger on Nov. 17.
