Rowan-Salisbury (N.C.) district wants to buy restaurant in Salisbury
The Rowan-Salisbury (N.C.) school board has approved a plan to buy a restaurant building in downtown Salisbury for $440,000.
Richard's Bar-B-Q is adjacent to the district's administrative office, reports The Salisbury Post.
The board has unanimously approved pursuing the purchase. The stated price is $440,000 with a $44,000 deposit.
Officials say they are looking at using the site to expand the district's career and technical education and culinary services programs.
Before the sale can be completed, the Rowan County Board of Commissioners must approve it.
Funds for the facility would come from the district's nearly $2 million capital funding balance.
