Lakeland University in Plymouth, Wis., has acquired a former office and event space in Sheboygan called Jake’s Café.

The university says in a news release that the space will become Jake’s, a Lakeland Community and will serve as a collaborative “Communiversity” that combines Lakeland’s Cooperative Education program with university intellectual resources.

In addition to expanded programing, Jake’s will continue to host creative communities and startups.

A Lakeland shuttle will provide free transportation from the main campus in Plymouth to the university's downtown Sheboygan location.

One of the goals for Jake’s is to create a space to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation.

Funding for the acquisition has been donated by Herbert V. Kohler, Jr. on behalf of Kohler Co. and by Richard and Kristin (Jacobson) Bemis.
