Just a few weeks after being fired as superintendent of the Douglas County (Colo.) district, Corey Wisehas been hired by the nearby Jefferson County district as an administrator.

Wise was fired without cause on Feb. 4 by the Douglas County board after a newly elected conservative majority was elected.

Wise will serve on an interim basis as one of Jefferson County's community superintendents, reports The Denver Post

“We are fortunate to have an experienced leader joining the team to provide support to our schools and principals during a time of transition,” Jefferson County spokeswoman Maggie Wells said.

Both districts serve the Denver suburbs. Douglas County has about 64,000 students: Jefferson County has about 84,000 students.

The Douglas County board terminated Wise’s contract in a 4-3 vote, two years before it was set to expire.

Wise, who has worked in the Douglas County district for more than two decades, was appointed interim superintendent in 2020 and was appointed to the job on a permanent basis in April 2021.
