Construction company sues Pennsylvania district to collect payment for high school project
A construction company is suing the Peters Township (Pa.) district for money it says the district owes on a new high school.
Nello Construction, which was the general contractor for construction of Peters Township High School in McMurray, Pa., contends that the district has not fully paid the $47,842,000 contract to build the facility, reports WTAE-TV Channel 4 News.
The company says the district still owes $2 million. The total cost of the construction project was $83,175,452, the school's website says.
The school opened in January 2021.
“Not only have we delivered the school, but we haven’t been paid for the work that we’ve done, and we’re not being paid for the extra cost to get the school done on time,” says Dean Falavolito, executive vice president general counsel for Nello.
The lawsuit asks for $7 million in damages, which company officials said would cover the $2 million and other costs incurred.
The district said it cannot comment on pending litigation.
