The Dallas school board has selected Michael Hinojosa as sole finalist for the superintendent job he previously held from 2005 to 2011.

The Dallas Morning News reports that board members voted 8 to 1 to make Hinojosa the finalist. He has been serving as interim superintendent since

Hinojosa, 59, became interim superintendent of the Dallas school system in late June after Mike Miles, who succeeded him, unexpectedly quit.

Hinojosa left Dallas in 2011 to become superintendent of Cobb County schools in the suburbs of Atlanta. He left that position and had been working as an education consultant.
