Oklahoma district is closing 4 elementary schools (with Video)

Drop in state funding forces Lawton to shutter campuses.
May 14, 2015

Anticipating state budget cuts, the Lawton (Okla.) district says it will close four of its 22 elementary schools.

KSWO-TV reports that the 15,000-student district will close Swinney, Wilson, Park Lane and Brockland elementary schools at the end of the school year.

Superintendent Tom Deighan told parents at a meeting that even though the district is closing four buildings, it will not be cutting any staff. He says there is enough space at other elementary schools to absorb students from the schools being closed.
