The Coast Community College District in Orange County, Calif., is seeking voter approval of a $698 million bond proposal.

The district operates three campuses—Coastline Community College in Fountain Valley, Golden West College in Huntington Beach, and Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa. Proponents of the bond proposal say facility improvements are needed to meet the growing demand for community college programs. They say the district already serves more than 18,000 students who are active military, veterans or members of military families, and expect another 20,000 veterans and their families who have completed military service to return to Orange County.

The bond money would pay to build more classroom space; renovate or replace outdated laboratories, classrooms, training centers and support facilities; upgrade technology and classroom equipment, repair decaying walls, drainage systems and leaky roofs; and carry out ADA accessibility improvements.
