The Milwaukee (Wisconsin) district is considering closing or merging six school buildings as part of a district facilities overhaul.

The schools that could be threatened with closing include Auer Avenue School, Keefe Avenue Elementary School, Hopkins Lloyd Community School, Siefert Public School, Clarke Street Public School and Douglas Middle School.

One proposal outlines several mergers; the second plan calls for closing all six buildings.

The district has cited declining enrollment and rising costs as factors driving the potential changes.

The board has not determined when it will make a final decision on the proposals.
